RISE ABOVE HAIR SALON
Swiss Meets Punk on This Hair Salon Site
Named after a Black Flag album I wanted to incorporate two of my favorite things while designing this Pennsylvanian hair salon: punk music and clean grids that I can break while listening to punk music.

The Problem
The client didn’t have a real site, she had a form and some outdated images but nothing that helped reflect her new hair salon accurately on the internet.
Opportunities
After speaking with the client, connecting over our love of vivids and punk and hearing what excited her, she told us the best words a design studio could hear “Go for it.” In talks with one of the co-founders we found a hint of inspiration then I started to find ways to bring what made the client excited into a digital space that reflected her studio and defied expectations.
The site is not just a success in the award circuit but also with potential clients. The easy-to-explore site reflects the down-to-earth nature of Ashley. Another way I wanted to reflect her values is with the Contact page seen below, as a queer-friendly salon one simple touch is including pronouns.
Hair Art meets Gallery
With art for local artists all around her salon as well as just artistic One Shot nominated hair art I used frames to help incorporate the physical space into her digital space.
