The Problem

With the pandemic starting Bluedot started to collect data with behaviours in one of their major verticals for clients. With a lot of raw data and no way to show it they came to us after a new site and brand refresh to find a way to make raw information exciting and interesting.

The Solution

After working closely with the client we found parts of the initial brand refresh to zoom in on to figure out the information. Focusing on the use of color overlays and how data was shown on the website we as a team worked closely together on the first book. With the success of the first State of What Feeds Us, Bluedot came back for a series of books.

Success Leads to Another Vertical

After the first 6 issues of the State of What Feeds Us, Bluedot wanted to explore another market through conventions: convenience stores and gas stations. With a new audience we discussed the transformation of something done with more whimsy into something more mature. Keeping the three primary Bluedot colors and introducing a new serif font allowed us to age up the book but still kept some fun with incorporating gas station elements.

Making Photos Work For ME

We all know the struggles of working with stock imagry, or that the perfect image is of COURSE available on a totally different site the client doesn’t have budget for. These eBooks helped me develop a strategy to approaching photo manipulation to make sure we could go beyond what existed to create scenes or make an image just generic enough to make legal happy.
